Best Day Ever with Alyssa + Gian, Kualoa Ranch, HI

2022 was a year with the most wonderful couples, and I was lucky to finish my season with Alyssa and Gian from California. Working closely with the couple's floral palette, we worked in bringing in some of the seasonal fall rust color to mix with tropical touches. It was my mission to overflow with as many orchids as we could to honor Gian's grandmother. We included mokara, cymbidiums, oncidium, phaleonopsis and dendrobium - all the varieties I could find. Rust cymbidium orchids featured prominently throughout the floralscapes with a special handstrung maile and orchid strand lei for Gian to wear for the ceremony. Father and sponsor boutonnieres featured cymbidium and phal orchids and small posies were made for the mothers to carry down the aisle.  The personal florals for the wedding party were lush and full of seasonal field florals mixed with tropicals to give a sense of place for the couple's hometown and Hawaii!

Their location was tucked away in the middle of Kualoa Ranch's Jumanji - where the ceremony and reception was nestled in the valleys of old Ka'a'awa (made famous by countless movies filmed on location, including the Jurassic Park series). The remote location made for an adventure for the guests as they arrived and departed by trolley as they got to experience the magic of the island long into the night.

A wonderful afterglow of the wedding was having all the florals lovingly donated to a local eldercare community by the bride who had worked in nursing and hospice. We rearranged the remaining florals and delivered them to the home the following day with a note from the couple wishing love and aloha to the recipients. Truly a day filled with love – congratulations to the Paulinos!
