Although the flower blog focuses primarily on weddings and elopements, the studio actually works often on creating installations and backdrops for promotional and community-based events. One of my favorite clients is Ward Village, a community in the heart of Honolulu on Oahu. Many of the events we participate in are community-driven, providing free, fun activities featuring local artists, retailers, businesses and organizations on the property.

On some of these projects, my husband (a woodworker and mechanic) steps in to design and build the frames and supports that are structurally sound. Whatever I dream up, he builds! And I have to say, the installs look as good as they do in the back as they do in the front! Oldschoolers and tradesmen who have peeked during setup have admired his carpentry work which we deem as the highest compliment.

The most recent event we participated in was a weekend Read Along Series for Keiki sponsored by Ward Village and the Friends of the Library of Hawaii. We built an 8'x9' freestanding wall of old Reader’s Digest books decorated with flowers.
